With a lifelong passion for music, theater and songwriting, Matthew Shaker has a varied resume packed with roles in musicals and plays (AEA) and dozens of high honors in national and global songwriting competitions.

In theater, he won Desert Theater League Awards as Best Actor (Professional) in ‘The Odd Couple’ and ‘Proof’ and has had lead roles in dozens of shows as well as serving as musical director on many productions.

He has spent decades as a piano bar performer in Los Angeles, New York and Palm Springs, while constantly honing his craft as a songwriter in multiple genres.

Matthew was recently named HUGS RADIO AWARDS:  Male Artist of the Year and also received Best Produced Song of the Year for his Jazz/Big Band song, “I’m Looking Forward To This”.  Also winning Best Song: Jazz/Blues- World Songwriting Awards for “I’m Looking Forward To This”. His Jazz Torch ballad, ‘Next Time’ received a HUGS RADIO Legacy Award for maintaining a spot in the Top 200 chart for over one year.

He was nominated in five separate categories for the 2023 ISSA-International Singer-Songwriters Association Awards and has received high honors in the UK Songwriting Competition for his Jazz, Country and Adult Contemporary songs.

Matthew continues his songwriting and composing in diverse genres while living in Northern Arizona where he continues writing his historical based musical titled, “EGYPTOMANIA!” He regularly plays piano and sings for seniors, especially those with memory care issues.
